Improving International Education

World in Transition provides instructional resources and support for middle and high school teachers to improve international education in the classroom. It includes:

  1. A package of background readings, lesson plans, exercises, videos and web-based resources on each of eight regions of the world. Every unit covers: Geography, History, Politics, Economics, Foreign Policy, Health/Environment, Culture, Society and Religion. The program was developed and is maintained by the Southern Center for International Studies. Each of the units is correlated to social studies standards nationally and in Florida.
  2. One-day workshop to introduce teachers to the materials and create a lesson plan on two regions of the world.
  3. Teachers have access to updated materials and as well as a teacher forum through the Southern Center’s website.

When you train one teacher, hundreds of students are educated. Teachers are enthusiastic about the materials which provide current and relevant coverage of critical topics to enhance their regular classroom curriculum.

Some of the participating teacher responses:

The materials are awesome. They are some of the best I have seen."

The tools and examples are invaluable."

It gives me more current information and great ideas."
