The World Affairs Council partners with the Jacksonville Branch of the Atlanta Federal Reserve to offer World in Transition, providing instructional resources and support for middle school and high school teachers from Northeast Florida, improving international education.
Brunet-García is a bicultural and multitalented advertising firm that believes multicultural marketing has little to do with translating an ad campaign, and everything to do with the nuances of a culture. Together, Brunet-García and the World Affairs Council work to better reach the First Coast community to expand awareness of international issues.
The Gate Governors Club is a unique club membership experience, in which members belong to two or more of the Gate-owned clubs: Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, Epping Forest Yacht Club, The Lodge & Club and The River Club. These four Jacksonville clubs are conveniently located to give members access to the diverse offerings of Northeast Florida such as a world-class marina, Atlantic Ocean beaches, championship golf, tennis, fitness, a luxury spa and an array of exquisite casual and formal dining opportunities. The World Affairs Council partners with the Gate Governors Club to present the Global Business Luncheons at the River Club.
GlobalJax is an outreach initiative comprised of Northeast Florida organizations with international outreach, such as the World Affairs Council. Through web sites, calendars, events and directories, GlobalJax connects new international partners and motivates existing partners in business, culture, education and health and social service in the exchange of ideas, creating far-reaching and innovative new ventures. GlobalJax is a portal from which one can directly access web sites of the core organizations as well as other organizations desiring involvement.
For more than forty years the Haskell Company has provided corporate and institutional clients and developers and public agencies with a single source design-build process and is widely considered to be a leader in the fast growing design-building industry. Haskell has been an avid supporter of the Council through the years, printing the Council’s monthly newsletter and hosting Council gatherings, as well as providing a venue for the Council’s quarterly Young Professionals Global Exchanges.
The International Visitor Corps of Jacksonville is a nonprofit, nonpartisan volunteer organization that promotes multicultural awareness and understanding between people of other nations and the United States by assisting the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and other international exchange programs for business and professional leaders. IVCJax and The World Affairs Council work together to facilitate attendance of IVCJax hosts and their guests at Council programs as itineraries permit, as well as partner to co-host quarterly Global Exchanges for Jacksonville Young Professionals.
The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce is a business advocacy organization that leads regional economic development by supporting the growth of area businesses, helping to attract and establish new businesses and fostering a healthy and inclusive business environment. It improves quality of life through responsible, sustained leadership on community and regional issues of relevance to our members. The World Affairs Council became a Chamber member in November—2007.
Opened November 12, 2005 as the final library project in the Better Jacksonville Plan, the Main Library is over 300,000 sq. ft in size and is the largest public library in the state. The World Affairs Council and the Main Library have partnered to offer Great Decisions to adults as well as co-hosting events for citizens of Northeast Florida.
The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra (JSO) continues to affirm its place as one of the leading performing arts organizations in the Southeast and a vital part of cultural life on the First Coast. Widely recognized for its high artistic quality, the JSO ranks among the nation’s top 40 orchestras in terms of budget size and population served. The World Affairs Council and the JSO have partnered to offer special receptions, pricing and seating for Council members for the “Friday Fusion” international music and cuisine series held at the Times-Union Center.
The North Beach Bistro, located in Atlantic Beach, partners with the World Affairs Council by providing venues for Council events throughout the year. The Bistro hosts the Young Professionals International Trivia night monthly in its adjacent Artistree Gallery and generously provides the evening’s winning team with a hundred dollars worth of gift certificates to the restaurant.
The World Affairs Council’s Global Issues Evenings - an evening series delivered by prominent speakers on a range of international issues, followed by an extended Q&A period are co-hosted by and held at the University of North Florida and are included as a part of their Distinguished Voices series. These programs, which run from September through April, promote a deeper understanding of world affairs and deliver the stories behind the headlines.
WJCT is the community-supported public broadcasting station for the First Coast. WJCT has provided support for the World Affairs Council over the years, including interviewing Council guest speakers for WJCT radio broadcasts, re-broadcasting speaker presentations via WJCT television and co-hosting special gatherings and forums with Council members and sponsors.
