In February, four exceptional students from the heart of Neptune Beach—Duncan U. Fletcher High School—conquered the competition to win the 18th annual Admiral Jonathan T. Howe Academic WorldQuest. About the Team Known as “Fletcher 1,” these students embarked on a monthslong journey that tested their academic prowess and thirst for knowledge as they prepared for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend and represent Northeast Florida in the national competition held in the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. A Triumph of International Trivia
The UNF University Center was buzzing with anticipation when more than 150 students converged for a night of fast paced, high stakes international trivia known as the Admiral Jonathan T. Howe Academic WorldQuest competition. For these students, more is on the line than just their pride: the winning team receives an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the national Academic WorldQuest tournament. Fueled by a desire to claim the top prize (and perhaps one too many pieces of candy from local favorite Sweet Pete’s) the students gave their all. In the end, the competition was close,
