On February 11, the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville welcomed Ethan Mollick, a leading voice in artificial intelligence and innovation, to the University of North Florida for a thought-provoking Global Issues Evening presentation on “Embracing the AI Revolution.”
Dr. Mollick, a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an expert on AI’s impact on business, education, and society, explored the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and how individuals, companies, and institutions can adapt to this transformative technology. His engaging presentation blended real-world examples, cutting-edge research, and a practical framework for understanding the opportunities and challenges AI presents.
Throughout the evening, Dr. Mollick emphasized that AI is no longer a distant possibility—it is already reshaping industries, redefining creativity, and altering the way we work and learn. He demonstrated the capabilities of generative AI, showing how tools like ChatGPT and other machine learning models can enhance human productivity, streamline decision-making, and unlock new possibilities. However, he also addressed ethical concerns, including bias in AI systems, misinformation, and the need for responsible implementation.
A key theme of his talk was the importance of experimentation and adaptation. Dr. Mollick urged individuals and organizations to actively engage with AI rather than fear it, advocating for a mindset of curiosity and learning. “The AI revolution is here,” he noted, “and those who embrace it thoughtfully will shape its future.”
